Not sure if I am putting this in the correct Forum, please move it if I am wrong.

I am moving to a BP/Wing/Harness system soon and am shopping around. I looked at Dive Rite systems and OMS systems. I found products from LP, www.diveriteexpress.com and www.northeastscubasupply.com. Although I do not no much about DIR, I was told Halycon and Oxycheq(i think?!?!) were DIR. I cant seem to find some online stores where I can look at their products. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot.

Realize that the local cave divers refer to Extreme Exposure as Extremely Expensive as is most of the Halcyon gear!!

I have a Halcyon set up as well as DiveRite. I like both, but I REALLY like Dive Rite's customer service compared to Halcyon.

Thank you, I will keep that in mind. I was between the Dive Rite Transplate and the Halcyon BP/Wing(Pioneer)/Harness setup. Do you just own the Dive Rite BP/Wing/Harness? Thanks again.

Halcyon?

I've found they've always stood by their products, are willing to spend oodles of time on the phone talking things over, and are generally decent with backing what they make/distribute, as are the stores that sell them.

The local cave divers as in...ALL the local cave divers? Wow. You must know everyone.

Bad experience with Halcyon?

Gerard if you want to get your hands on the Halcyon gear you can check it out in NYC at Village Divers. I am pretty sure they are the closest Halcyon dealer to LI.

Not sure where on the island you are but I have the 36# Pioneer and love it, you are more than welcome to check it out. A bunch of the Wreck Valley folk also have the Halcyon BP/W combos and if you join us on one of our local beach dives or at Dutch I am sure you can check them out more closely there.

I am from Massapequa Park, what part of LI are you from? Thanks for the suggestion on the Halcyon Dealer. When is your next beach dive. I would love to join you guys. I just came back from Dutch this weekend and had a bad experience. My primary and oct free flowed on me in the cold water. I think its time for some env sealed regs ;-) My Cam band also broke. It was one thing after the other. You just have to offer it up as one of those days. Thanks again.

Actually, I have the Halcyon Al backplate/harness and 36lb Pioneer for my single tank rig and I use the same backplate/harness with the addition of the DR Classic Wing for my doulbes. I think my harness is fantastic and some minor adjustments to a DR harness(bicycle tube, 2in crotch strap etc) is certainly doable. I really like the Pioneer...it works great with the single tank. I've never dove the TREK or REC wings so can't compare to Dive Rite.
I've dove with both the Halcyon Explorer and DR Classic wings...I still think Halcyon is a little bit better wing, but for the price difference it just wasn't worth it to me.

Gerard,

I live in N. Woodmere and work in Lynbrook. Once the water gets warmer I will be doing beach dives at Beach 9th Street pretty regularly. At Dutch, the easiest way to spot us will be to look for a blue canopy with a Wreck Vally Logo banner, it will either be mine or Grunzster's. Also check out the Wreck Valley Divers section of the board for who is going where each weekend and check out the website: http://www.wreckvalley.com
