Hi everybody,

I'm thinking of getting used Halcyon 27 lb Pioneer wing from eBay and I'm wondering if I it's possible to use it with my regular SS backplate? Basically the idea is to be able to switching back and forth between Explorer 55 for double and Pioneer for single tank dives. Is it possible, or do I need some adapters, etc?
I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks.

As docmartin has said you do not require an adaptor. But you can compliment the rig with one if you like. I prefer to use the adaptor as I find it holds the tank more firmly. It also adds a a couple of pounds to the rig, which means you can take some weight off else where.

You're saying that I can use Pioneer wing WITH adapter as well as WITHOUT with the same backplate? I guess I don't quite understand how adapter works then.

The bolt pattern on the single tank adaptor is the same as on the back plate. All you do is run the bolts through the adaptor, wing and back plate to join them together.

There is a picture here. Once it is bolted together the cam straps work just like on any BC. If you would like to see one set up please email me I am in the west end of T.O. (mississauga) jamespate@expeditiondivers.ca . and we can work out a time for you to view one of my own rigs.

You may find the 27# a bit small for diveing around here.

Mine floats me in a DS, but just.
