I can make my spine touch the wall, too. Definitely where the bolt holes are. I will say that I rarely touch or feel the bolts from my doubles, but occasionally they'll touch a little. The drysuit undies absorb most of that. To say that it can't isn't really accurate.

Body type might have a factor in this.

I also think the band depth matters. I once had the lower wing nut caught my wetsuit, created a tear. I must had band forward trying to shift my rig on my back. That was with my DiveRite plate (relatively flat plate), STA attached. After that, I switched out the wing nuts and I have been careful putting rig on and off to avoid the same thing happen to my drysuit. This is another reason I prefer a deep band backplate.
