I had the pleasure of working with Hakai magazine to compile a photo essay from my shots of animals living on, and under the sand in tropical oceans. Having spent a lot of time in Dauin/Negros, Philippines, I had a lot of images of sand dwellers. Hakai magazine was great to work with, with very competent editing interested in thorough fact-checking.

You'll see shots of stargazers, sand divers, ghost pipe fish, flamboyant cuttlefish and bristle worms. And I explain some interesting facts about the biology of these animals.

The essay is here. Enjoy!
