Haigh BBQ Sept. 2nd

The Chicago Scuba Meetup Group will be having an informal, friendly, BBQ at Haigh Quarry this Saturday, September 2nd. Meet some local divers and have some fun dives at the quarry with us! Fun starts at 8:00 and goes on until the last one leaves. This is a great way to meet new dive buddies! I wish I could be there, but every Labor Day weekend I visit my sister at college. I am bummed - I still haven't seen a paddlefish (other than at the Shedd), and the potluck BBQ is looking pretty good (but definitely missing a salad):

Howdy all,

I really want to attend the BBQ, but I have to work on Sat. morning. I would not be able to get to Haigh until after 1PM. Do you think it would be worth the drive? It's a 90 mile drive out to Haigh. So I'd hate to make the trip, only to find everyone had already left.

Well Kat, most likely I'll be there. But if we don't get enough people, we might not make a BBQ out of it, but rather, just bring munchies and dive. We will get out brats and burgers at the old cook shack they have there. That can change if I suddenly get a bunch of confirmed people.

How long would you want to stay for if you make it? I plan on making it a 3 or 4 dive day, so that will extend it into the afternoon.

I'll be there. I'm opting for the food hut option also if there aren't enough of us. They have luscious breasts! Just ask them. Mom's homade cookies are great too!

Probably won't get there till 9 or 10AM. Since I'll be doing checkout dives with new gear, I expect to be there most of the day.

I'll be bringing brats and charcol and some fixings, so I'll try and snag a BBQ grill. It looks like there will be stragglers wandering in, so they can have a brat on us if they want.

Since I can never make the GLWC Meet & Greets out in Ohio, I am really hoping I can make it to the BBQ. I am shooting for 1PM, but it's possible work may run late. I have never been out to Haigh before, what time does it close? I'd like to get a minimum of 2 dives in, to make it worth dragging the gear out.
