Your shots are great. The trumpet fish is not really that washed out. You have great color information in the scan. This is a photoshop curves tweak to your photo.

Thanks Bob, that does look much better. I have been fooling around with photoshop lately and find it to be pretty neat. Albeit with a steep learning curve. I tweaked it a little more, how does this one look?
