I'm new, so please forgive anything that sounds too stupid. I was wondering about this Dacor HUB system I saw at scubatoys. Has anyone out there used one of these? The only info I have on them so far is that it is bulky for traveling. I was also eye balling the Zeagle Brigade but a friend said that the 35lb bladder may not be big enough for me and I might need a ranger. Seems to me that I can save some bucks if a buy a package and just bite the bullet and get all the equipment at once. (That was a bonus is for right?)

GN,
Keep this in mind, with the HUB if ANY PART becomes defective, then the whole rig is rendered useless.

Hi gnnolan,

welcome to the board, and before you get pounced on, use the search feature at the top of the page, there is a HEAP of threads regarding the HUB, most of is makes them look really bad, there are a few people that like them, but be warned, it is generally considered a hugely over engineered piece of crap that goes against the growing paradigm in diving that simple is best.

Whatever you do, dont let boogie see this thread.

Problem is, you can't search on HUB or H.U.B. as they haven't been indexed...

Try here:

Boy are you looking at night and day!!! I won't hammer you or the HUB but will ask you to do the search on "Brigade" there are several threads here...I even did a review. For what you spend on the HUB you can get a real nice package and be able to dive even if part of your gear is in the shop. The HUB really has little flexability. It might dive nice but if it breaks you are done.
35lbs of lift is probably going to be plenty of lift unless you are doing some type of tech diving and take lots of gear. I have dove with a 7mm wet suit with 28lbs of lead in fresh water and was fine. Diving a farmer John you might be close but hard to say without knowing what you wear now with your gear configuration.
If you have questions about these then call Scuabtoys, ready to order, and they will be more glad to help you.

Oh no, I think I hear Boogie coming and he has been harrased lately. Gotta go and keep posting.

Why not? I would think the common terms that we have to answer again and again would be available for search. HUB, DIR, DPV, etc.

A search engine that doesn't search isn't worth much.

Still germaine, but I just saw your sticky thread. Good idea, if anybody bothers to look for them.

DON'T DO IT :bash:

The problem is that the search function doesn't index words that are less than 4 letters (saves a ton of space). The big guys have the ability to add certain words to the index, but they have not added HUB.

I think someone needs to fetch a big guy then, as this question really does come up all the time and there have been some very good discussions about the HUB.

I sell the Hub... but I really try not to sell them to ScubaBoard viewers! ;) Really for the same money, I've got some much better stuff for you. The Hub is good for some... but not many...
