I already posted this in another forum-it was suggested that I do it again within Dive Medicine. I took an Hyperbaric Chamber Tech. & D.M.T. (U.K.'s Health Safety Executive) course at a commercial diving school. I wanted to know if the National Board of Diving & Hyperbaric Medical Technology is the path to take to work in a clinical setting? It seems (?) that they're the governing body for H.B.O. therapy. I've satisfied the coursework in Dr. Bookspan's textbook. To that end, it's a little frustrating having studied/tested on the same material. Now, I have to fulfill 480 hours at an authorized facility. I've spent a lot of time & money already! I have a list where it can be done, but haven't a clue how to get my foot in the door. Some info would really be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello,

Im currently working as a dmt/cht for a hyperbaric co.
From my experience different boards can have different acceptance in various parts of the world. For example a uk trained DMT is advanced DMT equivalent in the states Due to invasive procedures Et op airways iv etc taught in uk.

The study and pre requisite for cht can be a slow process.
For myself its purely dive related no hbo or wound care although the Cht covers this.

As for the 480 hrs i was told you have to be working in a regeistered Hyperbaric enviroment. This seemed to be loosely translated as you need to physically be in the building for said time not that its 480 hrs of treatment time.

Confused? i was to.

If you want to know more ie companys that are employing please send me a private message. This really seems to be the only way to log the hours and you should get paid.Incidently if you have spent time in facilitys allready training or treating this time will count if signed by the facility medical director.so you may be on the way allready.

Hope this is of some help.
Gary
