Guppy Gulch (7/9/05)

I'm planning on going to Guppy Gulch this Saturday (7/9) for a couple of dives. A friend of mine is also coming. We are relatively new divers and will be doing mostly shallow dives so that we can get longer bottom times. If anyone is interested in joining us, please reply.

Question:
Does anyone have a map of Guppy Gulch showing depths and sites?

What time are you getting there? If I get my tanks vip'd and filled tommorrow, I might think about slidding up that way for a couple of dives.

They will give you a map when you get there... generally speaking everything worth seeing is no deeper than 50 feet. There is a jeep, plane and small boat lumped together at about 18 feet... there are motorcycles scattered along a navigation line from 20 - 40 feet... there is a school bus, a train car and some other boats in the 30 - 45 foot range and there is the "Damn Fool" wreck in about 50 feet. Training platforms for practice are from 15 feet - 25 feet... I may be up there on the 9th... to help with any questions... where did you get certified?

We're planning being there 9a-10a. We're planning on doing two dives.

Thanks for the info on the map. I'll be sure to pick one up when we get our rental gear. I was certified at Sea Colony in Severn, MD. I really enjoyed the instruction there and would recommend them to anyone south of the city.

If I make it, I'll be there by 9:15. I'll be in a green Hyundai, how will I recognize you?

We made it up to Guppy Gulch on Saturday. Got two dives in and the water temp at the surface was 78 while it was 40 at about 45'. Vis was about 5-10 depending on the depth. Looking forward to going again sometime.
