Just returned to Arizona from a Southern California trip which included a trip out to Gull Island-Santa Cruz Island aboard the Spectre out of Ventura. Despite some rough weather, it was a great trip. The Spectre crew runs a good op.
Weather only permitted one dive in the 'protected area' around Gull Island. Our remaining three dives were at more sheltered sites off Santa Cruz. Opinions will undoubtedly vary, but the diversity and size of marine life in a marine reserve area seems to make for a compelling argument to expand protection to additional areas.
As we only had one dive at the reserve around Gull Island, I had my camera setup for macro stuff. Hopefully, I'll get back out there to shoot with the wide angle. Here are a few photos:
Can't wait to take another trip out there with the Spectre! Fun Stuff!
