GUE, DUI, Halcyon and Extreme Exposure are excited about hosting the GUE Dive and Demo Day in conjunction with the DOG Rally at Manatee Springs State Park in Florida on Thursday, November 2. This is a unique opportunity to try DUI drysuits, divewear insulation, and other DUI products in addition to Halcyon products such as reels, lift bags, lights and MC systems. Extreme Exposure representatives will be on hand to answer questions about a variety of dive gear, and will be hosting training seminars with GUE instructors. We also have technical seminars, door prizes and more on the agenda!

About the Event & Facility

GUE Conference attendees were invited to pre-register for the event, but even if you cannot attend the GUE conference you are still invited to join us for this unique day of diving!

Non-conference attendees can purchase an event ticket for $20, which will entitle you to participate in all aspects of the demos, enjoy a barbecue lunch, and get a chance at the raffles. Admission to Manatee Springs is not included in the event price; divers pay $10/day in addition to a vehicle fee of $4/vehicle (up to 8 occupants), or $3 for a single vehicle occupant. They also have season passes available for all of Florida’s many state parks. Please Contact Tina@gue.com or Sonya@gue.com BEFORE TUESDAY, OCTOBER 31ST to register for the event!

All activities will begin at 9am on Thursday. When you reach the location, there will be signs to guide you to our large white tents. The tents will protect us from the weather so, come rain or shine, we’ll be diving! The closest dive store – Extreme Exposure - is about 40 minutes away so please be sure to bring enough cylinders for the dives you plan to do. If you need to rent gear (tanks/BCs/regs etc.), please arrange these with the staff of Extreme Exposure, as there will be nothing available on site (info@extreme-exposure.com). For information about accommodations and camping, visit http://www.floridastateparks.org/manateesprings/default.cfm.

Schedule for the Day

Registration and Test Dives: 9am to 4pm Thursday, November 2

Registration will begin at 9am on Thursday. All divers will need to check in with the facility and with the event coordinators. Don’t forget your C-card as it is required for both the facility and the event. You will also need to complete a liability release form and rental form, and we will ask that a credit card or drivers license be held as a deposit. A parent or guardian who can sign the appropriate forms must accompany participants under 18. These forms are available on site, from your local dealer or on-line (www.dui-online.com) so you can fill them out in advance if you like.

Test dives will be conducted Thursday until 4pm. All equipment must be returned by that time. Divers must enter the water by no later than 3pm on Thursday to ensure we have the equipment back in time.

Prior to the demo, each diver will be fitted with the appropriate drysuit and other equipment. Once you are dressed and ready to dive, you will check in with the divemaster in charge of the beach who will assign you an instructor or divemaster as a guide. As soon as there are 2-3 people ready to go in the water, an experienced drysuit diver or instructor will escort you on your dive. If you are an experienced drysuit diver, you are welcome to plan your dives accordingly. You can do as many dives as you wish. If you’d like to test dive a specific model of suit or particular piece of Halcyon equipment, please let the staff know so that they can do their best to make one available for you.

Barbecue Lunch: 11am to 1pm - This is included in the event ticket price and is served to all participants from 11am – 1pm. Please plan your dive schedule appropriately. Family members of participants can enjoy the barbecue lunch for only $5. Small children are free with a paid adult.
· “How to” Seminars - Informative and fun “How to” seminars will be taught throughout the day, including: Fitting & Measuring, Insulation Strategies, and History/Development of the Cave Cut Drysuit. There will also be seminars presented by GUE Instructors on various dive skills and equipment tips such as choosing and deploying a diver SMB, basic DIR skills and much more. Tentative schedules will be posted in the tent at the event.

Special Opportunities for DOGs

DOGs who bring a friend with them to test dive DUI products at our GUE event will receive a FREE bonus prize as well as a comemorative Test Diver hat when they present their DUI equipment and event ticket.

Things to Bring

q Basic scuba equipment including cold water hood and gloves. We will have over 100 drysuits available so we should have plenty for all. We will have larger fins available in case your fins do not fit the drysuit boots. We also have hoods, BC systems, Weight & Trim systems, lights, and SMBs available for demo.

q While you are welcome to bring undergarments of your own, we will have Polartech®, Thinsulate® and polar fleece garments to demo as well as booties to wear on your feet inside the drysuit.

q Diver certification card and credit card for deposit

q Wear clothing appropriate for the weather and bring your own favorite snacks, drinks, etc.

q Cameras are a great idea. We will be happy to take pictures of you and your friends.

q Insect repellant (a little goes a long way towards added enjoyment of the day)
