Anyone shopped at dive shops in Guam?

I searched past threads and MDA was mentioned a lot. How are their prices/selection?

How about other dive shops?

Are the prices in Guam mostly MSRP? Or could I get something close to internet prices? I also heard that some dive shops will offer discounts on gear if you dive with them. Can anyone tell me their experiences there?

Thanks in advance.

There are two dive shops in Guam that speak english MDA & GTDS. They both carry different brands ie: GTSD carries Mares BC and Regs. MDA does not. I buy gear from both shops. MDA is one of the largest shops in this part of the world with very large selection and they service what they sell. Something internet shops dont do very well.

CARHILL, thanks for your input. BTW, what kind of prices are they selling at? At MSRP?

I'm not sure, but I think prices are a bit below MSRP. At MDA, if you buy any three BC, console, reg, or computer, you get 30 percent off. 25 percent for any two IIRC. MDA carries Scubapro, Oceanic, and Aqualung as major brands. GTDS carries Mares, Sherwood, Dive Rite, and maybe another.

Hope this helps and is not too late.

At MDA if you joing the "5-Star" club for 70 bucks you get 6 free boat dives (three 2-tank) and discounts (10%) on all purchases and rentals. It's a pretty nice deal.
