How's the diving around granada, grenadines, and st vincent? I;ve heard it's good drift diving, which we love, anybody been on one of the live aboards there?, we want to go on a dive vacation this year, as it'll be the last for awhile, as we're going to grad school, so anybody have suggestions? want to dive as much as possible, don't really care about other touristy stuff.

We have been to St Vincent and it is a wonderful macro dive destination. Lots of critters to find when you muck dive. We used Dive St Vincent, Bill Tewes is the owner, and loved every dive. We didn't do much else other than dive the week we were there although the last day we did hire a local cab to tour the island.

We just did the Wind Dancer from Grenada and it was a very good trip. It's also a pretty good value in a liveaboard - less expensive than the other Peter Hughes boats or Aggressors but pretty much the same in everything that matters. It's very good Caribbean diving and there's a fair variety in the dive sites and critters over the area they cover. The dives ranged from little or no current (one way dive but could have easily swum back), to a couple with pretty strong currents. But generally pretty modest drifts. It was all tender diving and between the extra time that takes and the boat moving long distances it was only 4 dives some days rather than the usual 5. I think there were only night dives 3 nights. (Perfect for me, as I prefer 4 a day and to only dive some nights.)

We are especially fond of the diving in St. Vincent (have done that land-based several times.) The Wind Dancer had not actually been going to St. Vincent before because they didn't have permission (only went as far as Bequia) but they recently finally got permission and started going there so we got to do that.

The Grenadines offer a great variety in diving. Ideally you spend one week in Grenada.
Especcially the wrecks are spectacular. Then a week on Winddancer through the Grenadines followed by a week of critter watch in SV. Can recommend Indigodive.
If you can't make it that long, a couple of days Grenada and WD will cover it all.
We went with a group on WD last summer and it was phantastic. Check the trip reports on SB.
The currents are usually strongest the days after full and new moon.
Hope to see you in the area,
Peter
