Here's another photo - from the Scubaboard gallery!

This is closer to my memory of what they look like up close and personal.

Yeah...I only saw the head....bummer....that was big enough though....yeah...he could have possibly been an eel...I'll have to look up a green and see what it looks like....it is still stuck in my brain though...I will be remembering it for a long time though, and won't forget it when I'm a little more cautious peering around ledges and under crevices while diving from here on out. I take comfort knowing if he was really threatened he would have tasted mask first before my head....hopefully that's all he would've gotten...

He was really big! So were his teeth....Yikes!

It is amazing that when you get startled in the ocean, your whole body jolts...very embarassing. You know, like when you getspooked? If that hasn't happened to you diving before or you haven't seen it yet, it is pretty funny. AFter the giant fish thing, I was a little jumpy when I would look under ledges. A few times I would scare myself and my whole body would get this giant shock-thing. When there is no gravity, it goes all the way down through your fins. Pretty humourous when you are upside down!!!

I was thinking it might be a big ol' eel..... They can look pretty darn spooky, normal their harmless if you don't go mucking around with them... Anyways, welcome to the board!

The open ocean can generate a lot of strong emotions, from fear to exhilaration. I think I've gone through my entire emotional repertoire underwater at one time or other. The overwhelming emotion for me, both early on and more and more on every dive, is one of awe.

Of course, looking into a mouthful of teeth can change that to fight-or-flight pretty quickly!

Take care,
Grier

Welcome Aboard!!!

It's addictive, but who cares?!?!?

Good friends and good info. What could be better???

P.S. - If you have not already done so, please fill out your profile.

You really don't realize how small we really are compared to the ocean. My wife and I got the feeling when we dove the Speigel Grove. I was hovering in front one of the two screws and I wasn't even as big as just one of the blades of that screw.

Welcome and I have to agree with someone else, its sounds like one of those mutant diver killers! These things are beast, stay away from them! :)
