Hello all you fellow diving nuts.
I signed up for this site some time ago, but just now getting around to posting a hello.
I am thinking about a trip to Israel and pretty excited about the idea of leaving my tour group for the day and going to the Red Sea for a dive or 2, (day trip).
Can anyone tell me what to expect, or tips ? I would greatly appreciate it.
I live in LA and dive the kelp beds often. Cozumel earlier this summer, (best part was looking up from 45' to CLEERLY see my 10 yr old son snorkeling above me a waving at me). Last year I had the opportunity to sail to the Galapagos from the coast of Equador and do a few Dives on the main island.

Happy diving to all,
Richard

Richard,

I guess welcome ot the board is not really in order since you've been on for a while, but welcome to being a posted.

If you are going to be in Israel, and want to do just one day of diving. I actually would recommend crossing the border into Egypt. The dives there are much better then in Eilat and can easily be done in a day. I have done both the boat trip and shore dives with Aqua Sport. They make getting acroos the border and back very easy.

Also, there are a few boats that run out of Eilat for day trips.

There is shore diving in Eilat, but you'll find that with the limited number of dive sites and the high number of divers, that the sites tend to be crowded. I have been diving in Eilat basically every weekend since I moved to Israel in April, and I am done with diving for fun in Eilat. Now its just a training ground.

You should find your Red Sea info on the Africa forum. Have you tried our Search feature...?

A few suggestions I do like to offer every new member. First, it's good to keep your Profile with location and Dive Info with number of dives up to date so other members can address any questions appropriately; edit these as possibly needed from your UserCP above or the Quick Links above.

And don't be shy about posting. Click Forums above, tour the long list of choices, and jump in anywhere you're qualified. PM me with any questions, and I'll try to find a pretty good answer.

Thanks for the reply guys.
As I have done a litle more research, I am far too intriged to go for only 1 day so I am trying to re-arrange my tickets to have 4 days and maybe get on a live-a-board.
One shop I have found so far is Nemo. (their dive plan would inc crossing the boarder). Can anyone give me any insight on them or reccomend another good live-a-board option.

I am my padi advn card and have about 60 dives in. I may try and get my Nitrox cert before I go.

I plan to check into;
www.aqabagulfdivecenter.com.
Aqua Sport

I am thinking either Oct 27th/28th thru the 1st, or the Nov 10th - the 14th.

Thanks again,
Richard

That sounds good... or just forget the tour altogether and just DIVE, DIVE, DIVE the whole time!!!!

P.S. Welcome to the boards!

Welcome to the board. Sounds like you are already in the plannings of a great trip. Isn't this board great. Just ask a question, and "poof" you get a great answer.
