Greetings Everyone!
Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. My name is Ana, and I am a new diver. I first took dive classes 10 years ago in college, but wasn't able to get my certification due to some life upheavals. For my birthday my wonderful husband took us to Key Largo in December to Amoray Dive resort and we took the class again and got PADI certified. Yippee!!! I can't wait for my next dive (although after seeing a big reef shark on our last dive I think it may take some persuasion to get my hubbie back in the water). I've been looking at specialty classes in my area and am interested in the first aid classes, underwater naturalist and fish identification courses. Aquatic life fascinates me, and I have a new favorite fish after spotting one at Molasses Reef- the Yellow Jawfish. It looked like a cartoon.

Hi Ana, my name is Matt. I would like to welcome you to ScubaBoard!

Take care and Safe Diving. :butnhome:

Welcome!! Any question you have, you can probably find a post about it in the archives, or just ask away and someone will steer you to an answer.

Lucky of you to see a free-swimming shark so early. A lot of divers would love that experience.

Hi Ana,
Welcome! I am going to Amoray Dive Resort with my wife on April 18th. She is going for her Open Water training. I hope she has as much fun as you had. Have fun and dive safely.

Hi!
Thanks for responding. Not sure if you have been to Amoray before, but I suggest she ask for Lori as her trainer, if she is available. I thought she did a great job with us, especially because my husband was very nervous about the whole experience. I hope you both have a great time! (and I suggest Sundowners and Senior Frijoles for dinner, they are in walking distance right down the road from Amoray.)
Ana

Thanks! And yes, I was really excited to see the shark. It was kind of like being in a cartoon- we saw the shark about the same time the shark saw us, and my husband fled in one direction and the shark fled in the other. We saw two when we were snorkeling/skin diving the limestone reef in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea a couple of years ago, but that was pretty scary because visibility was poor and there was no one else around. I have decided I much prefer the illusion of safety of having a boat and other divers around.
