I have been around SB for quite a while, when I was just an avid diver and not an operator. This coming season will be my third as owner/operator and Captain for Tortuga Charters, based out of Morehead City, NC.

I just joined this forum recently and wanted to introduce myself here. My name is Captain James Rosemond. I hope I can learn and contribute to this forum as my dive business evolves and matures.

Currently, we have one 6 pack boat and only sell Tortuga hats and T-shirts and no other mechandise. Although our business goal is to get a 2nd boat, it will be another 6 pack, we really have no desire to operate a dive shop or run crew boats.

After a lifetime of professional sales, I am finding that the creation of this business and marketing from scratch has been one of my most challenging sales efforts. But it has been a lot of fun and I look forward to what is in store for the future.

I look forward to being a part of this forum. You can also catch me hanging around the Captain to Captain forum.

James,

Do you charter to any of the wrecks? If so what ones. I have a customer headed to NC in June and he has asked me to join him for some non-technical wreck diving.

Pete,

We run to all the wrecks within reach of Morehead City (Beaufort Inlet) which includes an area from south of Ocracoke to North of Wilmington. It is not uncommon to make a 50+ mile run, but some as close as 12 miles.

If it is on this list we dive it regularly, and if you have something else you want to dive, we probably go there too.

Since we are a 6 pack, we really work hard to put together custom trips, and when a group charters the whole boat, we will go wherever you want to go (within reason and weather permitting, of course).

Email me at Captainjames@tortugacharters.net. I can set up modest accomodations near the boat as well.

James,

Thank you for the info! I will let you know as our plans progress. We had a great holiday season and I currently have too many "irons in the fire" so it may be a bit before I get back to you.

On a side note the NC Wreck Divers web site is outstanding! I wish we had something that detailed for the west coast wrecks.
