Hi everyone,

I've been reading up on SB for a while and really benefited from the information shared around. I thought it would be nice to present myself as I move from lurking to possibly more active posting!

My wife and I recently got back from a 2 weeks diving trip in Roatan (dived with the Bananarama people, Marc W. was our Instructor, awesome place) and absolutely loved every seconds of it. This was our first diving experience where we got OW certified the first week, did a few fun dives and got AOW cert the next week! Busy vacation time but certainly no regrets. This is now our new passion and I can tell it will be one that will must likely follow us for the rest of our life :)

We chose to do "Advanced" immediately as we had the opportunity to keep the same instructor who we had for us alone and thought did an outstanding job with the OW part. Total of 17 dives and while we are by no means advanced (gotta love PADI's nomenclature) we felt we progressed a lot in a very short time. Picked PPB, Nav, Deep, Wreck, Night and did Drift afterwards.

Unfortunately, we live in Montreal, Canada which is far from ideal for diving options or at the very least, exotic diving. As I had mentioned in a previous thread, there is NO WAY we will be waiting until our next vacation for our next dive! Although we are primarily coral/fish geeks we also happened to have really enjoyed the pure fun of diving itself. We want to learn and improve our technique...explore, meet people.

We rented the BCD and Reg over in Roatan and were lucky enough to have good quality gear but have established that we'd love to get our own gear for future dives, both in colder and warmer waters. I had started a thread here : http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/ge...164-help-newbie-bcd-reg-warm-cold-waters.html

in which I got some extremely valuable recommendations and also got a taste of the whole BP/W vs BC debate ;)

While we are already looking forward to our next dive adventures in warm waters (back to Roatan? if budget and time permits maybe Thailand ?) we are also actively looking for local divers and sites closer to home.

Not a very original comment I'm sure but we are on a limited budget with limited vacation time. Our stay at the Bananarama was spectacular by our standards so we are not luxury kind of people (then again we certainly don't mind it) .

Looking forward to meeting you guys on a the forum or who knows, diving in the near future !
