Just wanted to get a post up here to introduce myself and say thanks for all the info I've already learned from this site and all the great contributions!!!

I'm a 26 year old male living in NYC. As a corporate loan trader for one of the main wall street firms, my time for diving is a little limited, but its not going to stop me! I was a competitive swimmer my whole life and have always been attached to the water, so it was only a matter of time until the SCUBA bug hit.

I started diving last year after getting my OW certification. I did a few dives in Key Largo this winter, and just finished up my AOW and Enriched Air classes back here in NYC.

All of my diving thus far has been with the standard local shop rental gear, so I've finally pulled the trigger and started assembling my own set-up. After talking to numerous people in the area, and reading more articles and posts than I can even imagine, I've started putting together equipment that will help me be a better diver now and grow in the future. With that in mind, my current equipment includes; Halcyon Eclipse 30lbs wing with SS bp and weighted STA, Atomic M1 regs for both primary and backup, Halcyon brass SPG, and DIR 1 tank hose kit with 7' primary. Next up will be the computer, but still doing my research there. Right now I'm leaning towards the Smart Tec or Vytec DS (if anyone is looking to sell theirs and wants to hook a newbie up, let me know :thumb: )

Thanks again for all the great posts so far! I look forward to making my own contributions in the future as well meeting everyone on the board (especially those in the NYC area). If anyone is ever looking for a dive buddy, send me a PM and I'm there!

welcome aboard

Welcome from the "Little Apple" Manhattan, Kansas - home of KSU.

Welcome to Scuba Board Cmchism from a fellow concrete jungler.

You will fit right in with your SCUBA bug and yes, as Shoturtle has already mentioned, there are quite a few NY'ers on this board.

I haven't done any local dives yet but am interested in doing some in Sept/Oct. I'll definitely PM ya cause I need a local diving buddy...and you can never have enough diving buddies.
