Welcome aboard.
some Blackbeard's tidbits.. bring some HEAVY DUTY clips to clip your wetsuit/towel to the rail, a wide mouthed water bottle that fits in a pocket helps you stay hydrated (better yet ask to buy one of their fantastic mug cups BEFORE you set sail it's worth their weight in gold & designed to not fall over with every rolling wave), I like to bring a 5-6 ft piece of twine to hang stuffo in my bunk area, bring some fav tunes on cd to play on the deck speakers, bringing a hardside suitcase on board-even for your dive gear-does not work when there are 20 other folks trying to unload gear-I arrive with my gear in a hard case but also pack a bigo lightweight nylon bag to transfer my gear into to haul on board (they'll store your hardcase for you in the office while your away and you can store the nylon bag under your mattress, speaking of mattresses- I've never had an issue with the bedding or sheets but the pillows can understandably get musty and take on an aroma life of their own-after a couple trips I learned that it's worth hauling down one of those sealed pillow covers. all gear goes topside but clothes and everything else sleeps with you in your bunk so think minimalist and follow their advice on the back of their confirmation letter, this is a perfect trip to take underwater photos so if you don't have a camera and have been thinking of getting/renting one this is the time to do so ( I use a very inexpensive sealife reefmaster and and have taken some great photos even with the small bulit in flash). I know you know this already (but there were these 2 guys on my last B.Beards voyage...)but no way do you want to use straight dive tables for this trip-if your not hauling a computer you just gotta rent one from B.Beards...
ok, that's all I got, have a great time, I'd say "wish I was going" but suddenly as of last week the stars fell miraculously into place, the gods smiled down on me, and the good folks at the Blacksbeards office said "sure Steve, come on down for thanksgiving we've your space" so ... I AM GOING, SEE YOU AT THE DOCKS! Steve
