I've been lurking this board for a few months and thought it was high time I joined. There are some very smart/helpful folks here!

My wife and I got OW certified last year. We did our certification dives off Key Largo. I gotta tell a quick story here...

My wife is one of those people who get VERY nervous and anxious. So, taking the OW class was stressful for her...but when it was time to get into the pool she was like a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs. I member we were under the water doing some exercise (don't remember which one) and she felt like she might panic. She actually swollowed a bit of water. Eventually she popped up and I came up too. I told her "Rememeber, we're in a pool. And we're in the shallow end (4 feet)".

Anyway, I knew she could do it. When we went on our OW dive, the first site was like an underwater aquarium. It was FANTASTIC!!! She was a nervious wreck on the boat but once she dropped in all of her anxiety washed away. She performed the exercises and passed with flying colors! Me too! We saw rays, nurse sharks, more colorful fish that I can count (even with my shoes off).

I highly recommend for anyone doing their OW certification dives to go to a place like the keys (or some place even better). It's really a stress eliminator!

Glad things worked out for you. I have seen that before, it's so cool after a hard time in the pool and on the boat the worries built up. Then once under and they see everything after the skills when it's time to dive ............. they can't slow down they are afraid there going to miss something try following someone that don't want to leave the water and be everywhere at the same time. How cool is that?
