Hi there,

I'm from South Africa and have had the opportunity to dive at the some of the most pristine reefs (my limited experience). Mozambique is my favorite place to dive. I've done my open water certification at Sodwana Bay (love the boat launch, can be hectic sometimes) and have since then had the opportunity to dive in Madagascar, Mozambique and Croatia. We did our PADI advance course in Inhambane. And have since then dived mostly at Ponta Malongane (Southern Mozambique) and Inhambane (half way up the coastline Mozambique). I've recently reached 100 dives and don't know if the naked diving is an urban legend- but it was winter time in Mozambique and the water was around 22 degrees Celsius - freezing for tropical divers.
I'm currently doing reach for a trip to either Indonesia or Thailand. This is our 2nd choice as 1st choice is the Solomon Islands- but as we don't have the means to go there now, we are planning the 2nd option.

I would like to know if anyone have dived both in Indonesia and Mozambique and how does the diving compare. We made the mistake of diving in Croatia and was really disappointed, as we where under the impression that we will be able to do wreck and reef dives. We where not able to do wreck dives and the reef dives was OK, but once you dived in Mozambique it is really difficult to be satisfied with a reef that does not have abundant fish life.

I've read that some of the reefs (Indonesia) are damaged by dynamic fishing and there is totally different views of Raja Ampat- some say it is beautiful and other say it is the worst ever.

I would really appreciate some assistance to clarify the conditions of the reef and the operators as well.

Kind regards

Stella
