Justed wanted to say hello for the first time. O/W in June. Advanced in July. Oxegyn admin and First Responder September. Waiting patiently for the cold weather to dissappear so I can start diving again...Anybody in the Long Island area ever need a dive partner send a shout...

Hello There

Just a (silly?) question here real quick. How come you wait for better weather to dive?

Haven't gotten around to getting a dry suit and I don't think my 7mm Wetsuit would do the job...nor have I joined the local chapter of the Polar Bear Club :)

Any other suggestions (besides an already anticipated warm vacation)m would be appreciated

Ahhh well yes, that would be a little bit cold. I don't know how the diving is there in the winter time, but I would recommend to get a drysuit or a thicker wetsuit. I mean - once you become really really addicted to diving, you can't possibly stop just because it's a bit cooler, now could you? ;)

:crafty: Hello there Damien369, my name is Matt and I wanted to welcome you to the community. I think it’s the best board on the internet for divers. The people on here make it a really friendly place. It’s a great place to see what’s going on with divers. Just wanted to make you feel welcome! If you’d like to chat, please PM me.
Take care and safe diving.

No experience needed and it feels great!

WELCOME to ScubaBoard!!!
I agree with Natascha, I'm shopping for a bomb proof dry suit even now. So far I've been lucky the water here is above 10 C but I think I'd appreciate something like an old fashioned hard hat shell with installed heaters for ice diving.
Glad you found us!

Tom

Oh.... I am already addicted to diving...I must have been to the dive shop thirty times already since the winter hit...It's a mom and pop shop where I took all my Cert. classes and I have gotten to know them real well...nice friendly people who know their customers by name.

Yes my next big ticket item will be a drysuit...Question though....Since I am new to diving...I wonder if anyone could give me a little advice on buying items over the internet...I have purchased all of my gear from the shop...and I did so for the expertise as well as to support the store...but some things can be found at a ridiculously cheaper price then in the store...any thoughts????

Wanted to say thanks for the warm reception...I too stumbled upon this board by chance and I am glad I did...I hope that I can give as much as I am sure to gain through this site...Happy Holidays
