green water filter - will there be a benefit?

here is a clip from some video taken at 109' in fresh water in Lake Erie this past weekend.

The video rig has a pair of Pro-V8 LEDs on it (500 lumens each), and I realize that anything more than a couple feet will render the lights ineffective. Question is, would a green filter really help? Also, what would be the consequence of using the filter when I got close? Here is also a pic of what the lights do up close...

I really don't think the filter would help you much. There is nothing wrong with water being green if that is its natural state. Your lights have a very strong hot spot, you might want to move the edges of the 2 lights so they are touching. This way you won't have the darker center divided between the way you have them positioned in the 2nd photo.
