The Australian government has established a new plan to hunt and kill GWS's off their coast line to protect beachgoers.
If you think this is a bit ignorant to justify this course of action there's a petition to make this illegal. See the last link

The plan will allow authorities to catch and kill a shark if it is found close to beachgoers. Sharks could previously only be hunted if there had already been an attack on a swimmer.
