Over this last Labor Day weekend, I ventured to Guadalupe Island with Great White Shark Diving to visit and hopefully have some wonderful interactions with the Great White Sharks that live at this island. This island is a major breeding ground for the GWS'. We had up to 11 different sharks and several surface breaches. Unfortunately, for me all the surface breaches it seemed to happen when I was in the cage. Here are some pics from the trip:

Nice trio of pics! That's gotta be a bucket list trip for a lot of people. Maybe someday...

Thing is, after seeing them up close in the water with me like that, I imagine my next couple of scuba trips elsewhere I'd be looking over my shoulder more. You can say all you want about how unlikely a person is to be torn apart by a shark, and that is truth, but the prospect of one in close quarters without a cage is still intimidating. Could make for some 'tell the grandkids' stories though...

Richard.

Nice. I haven't been down there since we did a scientific expedition back in 2004 with the Pfleger Instityute for Environmental Research (PIER). I was still filming with a SD video rig, but Dr. Guy Harvey used some of my footage in an episode of his cable TV show "Portraits from the Deep." He was filming in the other cage.
