dreid:
Did 2 good dives last evening with Freefloat up in Barrie.
Did Big Bay Point, then headed over to the Morrison for a night dive.
After diving the Morrison at night it puts a whole new perspective on the site.
I must say that the Morrison is way more enjoyable as a night dive. NO boat traffic or jet skis overhead and the night life at the Morrison is a bonus too. (especially that Killer Pike eh Freefloat? :11: )
Yeah tell me about it!
At Big Bay Point it was just getting to sunset - beautiful glasslike conditions. Hit a thermocline at exactly 49 feet depth and that tore about 15°F right off the thermometer YIKES!!!

Naturally I had decided I would be "fine" with just unlined rubber garden gloves on....... man am I glad I decided to wear the hood. I told dreid I was cold after about 20 minutes of that and had to endure his ribbing about that, for the next three hours
By the time we got to the
JC Morrison we saw one lone waterskiier making use of the last dim twilight, he wiped out a few times then packed it in. Viz on the
Morrison wasn't very good at all, about 5-10' most places maybe 15' some places. Tons and Tons of crayfish - they swim backward when gently picked up (made me laugh). I had sort of "led" the last dive so this one was dreid's treat and a fine guide he is too - we got to see every part of the wreck twice in no hurry at all, except that he asked us to turn back after 45 minutes so it wouldn't be
too late when we got out.
Than at about 12' right by the exit point I was head-down dumpnig air from my wing - takes 1/2 a second - and when I righted myself I had this monster "kiler" pike about a foot from my mask! Whoa! :11: Four feet if he was an inch I kid you not, he looked almost 5' long underwater but we all know what water does to things' size. Sure not in any sort of a hurry either.
Thanks for the coffee dreid, I'll get yours next time round! What a great night for a dive with a very relaxed and solid buddy!
