As most Aeris Atmos AI owners may know by now, the battery hatch covers are no longer available for this computer through Oceanic or Huish Outdoors, and I and other divers have not been able to locate Aeris replacements from LDS that used to and still do sell the computer. However, after discussions with Ron the tech guy at Pelagic Pressure Systems (PPS), the company that built the Aeris Atmos AI, and manufactures the Aqualung i550, the battery hatch cover for the Aqualung i550, should have fit the Aeris Atmos AI. But it did not, the threads on the i550 being ever so slightly larger in diameter than the Aeris Atmos cap (as AZ Ryan also described in a different thread). After describing the minor thread diameter problem to Ron, at PPS, he suggested I bake the i550 battery hatch cover (without gasket of course) in a 160-160F degree oven for 35-45 minutes to slightly contract the plastic. I will admit that I was very doubtful about this suggestion. However, I baked mine at 170F degrees for 30 minutes, let cool, installed the gasket, and was flabbergasted to find it screwed into the Aeris Atmos body perfectly, I put the computer in a bucket of water, and did not see any air bubbles coming from the hatch cover. Unfortunately, I will not be able to dive test it until summer, but I am very optimistic that the heated Aqualung i550 battery hatch cover is going to work. So thank you Ron at PPS. Your advice and suggestions kept my two computers operational, and I suspect other Aeris Atmos AI owners are going to be ecstatic with this solution, assuming the cap does not leak under pressure.

I wish I could have dive tested this heated battery hatch cover before posting on SB, but decided to present the information I have now that might prevent someone from discarding a perfectly good computer for lack of an OEM Aeris Atmos AI battery hatch cover. Please let us know how the heated battery hatch cover works if you are able to dive test this modified cap.

Tested the heated Aqualung i550 battery hatch covered as described above on three Red Sea dives to a depth of 75' and the hatch cover was absolutely water tight. So, those of us with an Aeris AI dive computer have a suitable replacement for the non-existent Aeris AI battery hatch cover.

This is good news. I am need of two of these battery hatch covers. Same issue. How do I get them? Who sells them?

Find an Aqualung dealer and have them order them for you. I think they were about $10 each if I remember correctly. If you need two, then maybe order three. Bake one first to make sure it works for you, and then bake the other two so you have a spare. The i550 battery hatch cover will come with a new O ring, which you will obviously have to remove before putting the hatch cover in the oven. I have used my "baked" hatch covers on both of my Atmos AIs on numerous dives in addition to the Red Sea dives, and they have been absolutely watertight. Good luck.

The aqualung USB cable for the i300 and i550 works on the atmos V2 as well.

I had to order them from SPAIN! Just got here and baking one now... but ordered a Shearwater Perdix just in case. LOL

I hope the baking process works out for you as well as it did for me. Both of my computers are still water tight.

Local dive shop put it in a pressure pot to 104 feet. Flawless. I owe you! I still bought a Shearwater Perdix AI but I'm using the Aeris Atmos AI as backup. I don't have enough trust in wireless yet. I'm headed to Galapagos 3/29.

I am very pleased that your success baking the Aqualung battery hatch cover matched mine. I am always hesitant to recommend such "odd ball" fixes, but in this case, the risk is worth the reward because without the baked battery hatch cover replacement ,the Aeris AI computer is just a piece of unusable junk taking up space in my dive gear bin.
