I just got a copy of Danny Rivera’s “Scuba Dive Long Island”, and it’s terrific! Full disclosure, a few of my photos are in the book. But this is a really excellent resource for anyone who wants to take advantage of the dozens of beach dives on the north and south shore, including the ones closer to NYC like Beach 8th street.
The volume is beautifully laid out, with an experienced local diver’s insight into the the specific access points, hazards and hidden treasures of these dive sites. There are detailed maps and aerial photos to help first time divers navigate safely. There is information about facilities, parking and beach passes.
The book is really handy to use as a reference, or fun just to read on a cold winter’s night when you wish you could be diving!
