Looking to do a 3-Day / 2-Night Liveaboard around Cairns for Great Barrier Reef diving in Early to Mid June 2025.

So far, I’m considering Diver’s Den (OceanQuest) and ProDive. Please let me know if you have any recommendations!

This is a bucket list trip, really looking forward to making the most of it. Cheers!

I'm just now wrapping up a 3 day livaboard with Spirit of Freedom. We dived the northern Ribbon Reefs of the GBF reef system. 10 dives over the 3 days. It was supposed to be 11 but a nasty squall took out a night dive. The captain did everything possible to avoid the worst weather and get us to the best sites.

The vessel is very well run, safe and organized. The crew is competent, friendly, enthusiastic and does everything and anything the passengers may need to ensure a fantastic dive experience.

And the food is great.

If you can go the extra night, the Spirit of Freedom 4 day/3 night is an incredible trip. I did it in late May a few years ago and it still makes me smile to think about how great ot was.

Fantastic crew, wonderful food, comfortable ship, and the dive sites you can get to on Spirit of Freedom or the Mike Ball are fantastic. Plus I met some wonderful people on the trip.

Early/Mid June should be the start on Minke Whale season too so that’s an exciting time with opportunities to see them.

For a Bucket List trip, I’d definitely recommend Spirit of Freedom, and I also hear great things about the Mike Ball.

Both good choices. Cairns local dive pro here.

The main difference between the 2 s OceanQuest is like a floating hotel that moves from site to site and has a daily transfer vessel. Scubapro goes out and returns after 3 days

Both great boats and decent dive sites. The linls I gave above show more detail and links to their dive sites as well

Scubapro 38 passengers 11 dives slightly smaller boat.
OceanQuest 48 passengers 10 dives

DM me cos also few specials on at the moment and easier to give more detailed info

+1 for Spirit of Freedom.
I did the 3 day trip in Early Dec and was very happy.
