The insanity online is crazy right now. A 1,000 people a day go to Starbucks drive through, buying 4$ coffee. They handle money, credit cards and cups that several people have touched and they don't think twice about it. We can get outside, drive independently to a remote, relatively isolated location in our own vehicles, put on our own gear, go underwater, not touch each other, have fun and drive home separately safe. It's nice to have a hobby that is arguably one of the safest activities that keep us all from going insane and getting fatter by the minute keeping a couch warm.

Take care and stay safe,
Rob

Be grateful that you have access to water. All public water access is closed off in this state...
Yes, I hear ya. I believe it's likewise in California to some extent anyway. Originally we had thought of snowbirding to Myrtle Beach again....
Don't think they could easily close off the ocean here in NS. Too many access points, some pretty much out in nowhere. Sometimes you just pull off the road & dive. I'm lucky, and our LDS (the only sizable one for a long way) remains open.

The dive shop here will take requests over the phone for tanks and leave them outside during select hours for pickup. Also, lots of shore dives here.

I know the stay at home purists will bash me for this but I think it's important for peoples' mental health and sanity to be able to do something you enjoy while also being responsible.

I wish I could dive. Quarry is closed by owners decision until stay at home order is lifted. No shore diving here.

Agree. I'm sure many active people are going stir crazy right now. I'm lucky in that except on dive days, I exercise, practice my clarinet, fool around on the internet and watch TV. All can be done inside. The only significant change for me has been the DOW......

You know.. that's what I thought. However, a friend from the LDS called me today. He had a group going to Buford this week but someone bailed and he wanted me to go. They're going during the week because apparently the springs are just too packed during the weekend. I was shocked. I mean Buford still requires you to get a permit, right? Also every week or two we seem to be hearing of folks dying on dive boats. I think people are just ignoring the rules or at least the intent.

The Springs are packed... Dive boats and dying... Wow. And some people talk about relaxing the rules/laws as if that is an option in the near future without a vaccine. Some people can't follow the rules/laws as it is now.
I saw today on CNN that without a vaccine-- in the near future (I assume that doesn't mean the predicted 12-18 months from now), scientists say the US will have to be on social distancing/stores closed until 2022. I believe that is probably true and many will just got out and do stuff anyway.

Yes, we will.
