Hello All,

We are flying into Grand Turks via a small airline from provo. They have stated that there is a 44lbs wieght limit per person total. As a scuba diver taking his own gear, this is next to impossible.

Does anyone know if there is a problem with getting your luggage on the plane with you? I know they will probably charge more. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Mark

The charge you a small fee, I wouldn't worry. I carried laptop computer, underwater camera, strobe, reg, BCD, fins, mask, etc and just paid the overweight fee. Going with SkyKing?

Your heavy bag might come in on the next flight. Make sure that you have all your toiletries in your carry-on.

If the bags get put on the next flight, do you have to wait for them? does the airline deliver them to the resort?

Thanks

Its only a problem if you catch the last flight of the day. The airline is tiny but they have a truck on Grand Turk and delivered a couple of our bags to the condo we rented about two hours after we arrived. Smart idea to have a change of clothes and toiletries in your carry on.

Hope you didn't book your flt with Air TC on the internet.. Just tried that yesterday and this morning. The schedule as posted on thier web site is a LIE!!!!! We booked from Provo to Salt Cay, received the following e-mail "Your reservation has been accepted and sent to our Fares Department to ensure you receive the lowest fare.
Your fare calculation and payment instructions will be sent to you shortly." Based on this we went ahead and booked Spirit Air into Provo on Saturday. Then after a while we had not received the payment instructions so we queried them about that and received the following reply

"Dear Mr. Long

I’m sorry to let you know that we’re no longer having a schedule at 4:00 pm anymore and the price is 206.00 per round trip for adults. See below for the new schedule. And hope to hear from you again soon!

Of course this made it impossible to make connections. Seems they just didn't bother to change their website to reflect the new change. Contacted them about this and they have so far declined to answer.. so I'm still trying to salvage the trip and not lose the $ for the Spirit Air tickets . Air TC BAD

Changed our destination with Spirit to Grand Turk. And hope that we can get SCDivers to pick us up at Grand Turk by boat and dive with them from Salt Cay.

check into Sky King. Been awhile since we flew on them but they seemed like a pretty well run little airline, compared to most little island airlines.

SkyKing is the best one there, I never fly with anyone else.

I can not remember who we flew with the last time but I found it was easier to have the dive shop arrange it. For a while Debbie at Salt Cay Divers was the agent on Salt Cay. She ended not only making our flight arrangements but was also on the flight.

Also I have found that many of the island hoppers webste are not always up todate. I always send an email to get the current schedule. It also helps to send them info on your arriving flight. I.e coming on 15 Nov at 3pm and want to get to YY that day. What flight do you have etc.
