Hey everyone,

I read somewhere that you can dive at stingray city (instead of snorkel). Has anyone done this? Any recommendations on a charter that would pick me up at Compass Point to do the dive?

Thanks!

Or even a place we can drive to and take a charter from there.

They do let you dive them. Its only in about 12' of water so it is very warm. I was dying in a 3/2 mil. We dove with Don Fosters, they are great. They only do it on certain days so call ahead. Very fun, say hello to psyco! Hes an 8' blind eel that loves swimming in between the legs of divers at Stingray City.

Don't get squid juice on you or you'll come out with a serious hickey.

Yes, I have dove at Stingray City, it's worth it.

Been there done that got the t shirt... Glad I did..... Will likely be kneeling in the sand again in 3.5 weeks.

Ocean Frontiers has a Three Tank Safari dive trip every Wednesday. It includes a wall dive (we did Babylon), Sting Ray City, a stop for lunch at Kaibo and a second shallow dive. It's a good trip and leaves from the Compass Point dock. It is a loong day on the dive boat, you leave at 8:30 a.m. and get back at 4:00 p.m.

FYI the food at Kaibo is great! They also have a GREAT Caribbean BBQ on tuesday nights. My wife an I got married there so we must like it! The Sting Ray City dive is a little campy but we do it almost every time down there and love it. It really is a fun dive. Just be sure to get on a boat with no more than 10 or so divers. If you are not careful you will end up on a water bus with the rest of a herd of divers!

Due to strong winds, first week of March, we could not dive Stringray. We were able to snorkel it the last Saturday before leaving.

Many dive ops can bring you, if the swells are small, like Cayman Turtle Divers. When a small boat advisory is in effect, no can do.

There's probably an op that operate out of Rum Point, that would be your best bet if it's really windy.

I think Ocean Frontiers has recently stopped the SRC dive. Not 100% sure, but I got a message a few weeks ago that they had switched to doing dawn snorkel trips instead. That sounds pretty awesome to me though.
