Grand Cayman Questions

If you could travel to Grand Cayman, beginning of December, would you stay at the Spanish Bay Reef Hotel or the Beach Club Colony Hotel and Dive Resort? Both are all-inclusive and are offering a great travel package (considering the fact that Grand Cayman is an expensive place to dive) during that time.

If you like to be closer to the middle of things and on 7mile beach (which is beautiful) then pick club colony

I haven't stayed at either, but from what I know Spanish Reef seems like the better choice if your main goal is to dive. (With the caveat, if it were a winter trip realize there's more of a chance diving on site there could be blown out, similar to Cobalt Coast nearby where we usually stay.) I used to see some less than stellar reviews of rooms and facilities there, but I know they were closed after Ivan for awhile and I am under the impression things got upgraded some.

Just got back from spanish bay this past saturday.Great place,great diving!! Ask to go on the boat that Peter and Marlin captain.Two great guys and lots of fun.The food was very good ,considering it was buffet style.The staff was friendly and helpful.Highly recomend it.

Thanks for all the advice. It actually looks like we'll be doing Roatan, instead. My dive buddy/travel agent has found way options, so now we have to make a decision.

Both catier to the cruise ships. The all inclusive package does not include boat diving only shore diving. So we ended up staying at Cobalt Coast Resort and diving with Divetech. We visited Beach Club and Spainish Bay which are very old resorts. Their web picture don't reflect their resort today.
