Have been to various islands around the Caribe...and world, but this time we are planning to relax and dive (and of course snorkel) in either GC or T&C at the end of May.

Any suggestions on which of the two is better.....and especially where the weather will be better?

Better in what way?

I'd expect the weather to be similar. Water temp probably a few degrees higher in Cayman.

Thanx!
By better i mean 1) is it going to rain more in one of the island?
2) which of the 2 offers better (if ) diving? I want to see nice colorful corals and fish like i've seen in Micronesia and Indonesia.

Comparisons of the two will have to come from others.

Rain can affect visibility. It can swell rivers and other runoff which can carry particles into the water and reduce visibility. It can, through runoff, have localized effects in salinity and algae growth too. Either location, I'd guess it is about a toss up since there are no major rivers to carry runoff.

I can say that typically the rain in Grand Cayman comes in sudden, brief downpours. The west side (typical downwind end) of the island gets a bit more than Northside or East End. All day rains happen occasionally, but are rather rare. However most days are partly cloudy/partly sunny... not often is it completely blue sky from horizon to horizon, just as it is rarely a gray cloud deck across the sky.

That's a pretty big request.

What other places in the Caribbean have you dove ? I find T&C diving and Cayman to be similar, with T&C having a good chance of seeing sharks.

As others have said diving routine, sea life, topography of Grand Cayman and T&C are very similar. If the emphasis of the trip is diving you might want to look at Little Cayman or Cayman Brac. You have been spoiled by SEA, diving in the Carib is great but you will not see as much diversity as you see in Indo.

Where in the Carib have you found similiar diving to Indonesia? Please let the secret out, I've certainly never seen anything to compare but I'm willing to keep an open mind.

We were in GC last week in May 2005 and T&C in July 2005. Grand Cayman was a 5 star experience and the Turks was a 3.

In Grand Cayman we saw the Hammerheads on the Northwall 4 of our 5 days. The marine life was much more abundent and the soft corals in front of Cobalt Coast Resort was just awesome for the Caribbean, plus the shore diving could not even come close.

We did our diving with Divetech which was the dive operator at the resort. I can not say enough good things about them. I have been all around the world and have never been around such a passionate dive staff. They have a adventure for every level of diver. Be it from my 5 year old, to me being Trimix certified. Our family was vacation with them was just the best ever. I'm looking forward to my next dive vacation with them.

Our weather at both resort was great with no rain and calm seas during the weeks.
