Hurricane Irene passed Grand Bahama with minimal impact. The airport and harbor are open, the electricity is restored and all the dive operations should be functioning by tomorrow or Monday.

The water temperature is 85 degrees F. and the visibility should be over 70 feet by Monday and probably over 100 feet by Tuesday.

I made a short video of my foray out during the storm;

Best to all...

What kind of shape do you think the reefs will be in? We're going in a couple of months and will be diving in southern Eleuthera where the eye passed directly over. :depressed: Hoping the dive shops (Cape Eleuthera and Ocean Fox Cotton Bay) will be open but as of now still no power in the south. They got hit pretty badly.

Our Reefs are in great shape. We posted some pictures of yesterday's dives on our Facebook page. Hurricanes are usually good for cleaning out the reef structure and ventilating them, which is usually followed by an explosion of life.

I can't speak specifically for Eleuthera's reefs, they are quite far away from me, but I am quite sure they are fine and you will enjoy your diving there.
