Hello all, considering a trip down to t & c july 25th until aug1st. Narrowed hotel down to the sommerset, nikki beach, or the ganesvoort. can anyone help narrow it down? am i correct in saying most people prefer caicos adventure for diving? lastly is it worth it to travel to the other island near provo??

I can't help you out with the hotel question, but I can say that we loved Caicos Adventures. You can find my trip report from a few weeks ago a few threads down. Caicos Adventures does go out to West Caicos for the diving, but you don't go ashore and we didn't travel to any of the other islands otherwise.

If you have days when you are not diving, there are several day trips you can take from Provo to the nearby islands/beaches if you want to explore them some more. You'll find travel magazines and brochures in your hotel (TCI does a good job promoting tourism and these are everywhere) that will list the itineraries and contact info. Grace Bay itself is gorgeous and has some great snorkeling from the shore down at Smith's Reef near the Marina.

I dove with Dive Provo 6/6-6/13 and was really impressed. The boats were the best equipped I've been on with regard to safety and comfort. The staff was very professional in every respect. Different dive sites every day including West Caicos and French Key. The night dive at the Aquarium was awesome. We expressed an interest in seeing lionfish captured so, the crew taught us how to do it and we did it. Lots of adrenaline!
Can't help you with the hotel choices but I'm sure you'll have a good time wherever you stay.
