Well went to the mail box today in this heat and found something cool. It was the PADI Diving Society card and membership book. Glad I got it and that I will be getting the magazine, BUT I have a question about it. I didn't know that I ordered it at all. So now that I have it what all is it good for other than some discounts to places that I can only wish I could go to.
Will be looking forward to the magazine to see whats new and read about some interesting places that people are lucky enough to go too.

Typically the PADI Diving Society is like $20 a year our something. If you're newly certified, maybe your shop included the 1st year for free with your course. Anyway, enjoy. The monthly magazine isn't bad (Sport Diver). At least fun to flip through. Certainly much PADI propaganda, but I'd expect that from any dive society associated with a training agency. Not a bad thing, just realize what perspective the magazine is written from. They have lots of group trips that seem to be reasonably priced. I've never been on one, but I wouldn't rule it out either. I'm a member and will probably sign up again in Oct. Hey, one more diving related thing coming in the mail. Always fun!

DiveMaven:
You also get a discount for PADI dive insurance (similar to DAN). If you don't have insurance yet, you might look into it.

I think the discount only applies to their top level of insurance $79 instead of $99, their low end insurance is still $54
