Passed my OW Sat. Every thing went great except for the swimming ascent, which we did from 22 ft. I got to the surface fine, dropped my secondary, grabbed the manual inflator, got a breath and put it in the BCD. When I kicked for my second breath, one of my fins came off and I began to sink. Knowing that I had air I grabbed my secondary and about the same time my instructor inflated my BCD. We had desended to about 10 ft. My instructor informed me that that would have been the ideal time to release my weights (6 lbs. in fresh water). We we went to sallower water and practiced the emergency procedure. When we went back out to re preform the swimming acent all went well.
From my short time in the water I have learned that it is a good practice to check your fins regularly. I almost lost one on Dive 2 Fri., But I caught it and tightened both straps. Maybe had I spent 10 more dollars for shoes with a strap stop this would not have happened.
