I recently started using a gopro 4 silver for some snorkeling trips with just a small cheap plastic "grenade" grip. Now thinking about bringing it diving. I've read the red filters are very effective, but I also have an older intova supernova light and I'm trying to figure out if it would be worthwhile to use as a video light. The light is 500 lumens and I was thinking of just mounting the go pro directly onto the light's handle (not sure how, though). But, the torch is pretty beefy and heavy and I don't want to lug it with me if it won't help things. Will be mostly for 20-60ft dives in tropical or semitropical conditions--maybe a lake or something deeper here or there. What do you think? Just buy the filters only? Get a better grip/mount? Attach it to the light? Just focus on the dive and steal photos/videos of the dive sites off the internet?

The light needs to have an even light all around, no halos and things like that... and also a wide angle, like 60-80 degrees or more... does your supernova qualify? Also.. 500 lumens are not much I am afraid, but you can try.
