I bought a PT-015 housing right after my most recent trip to Cozumel and am finally looking for the actual camera itself. My wife and I are planning to go again in May. What is a decent price now for a new or refurb 5050? I think I can get an olympus refurb from olympus (on ebay) for 325-350. Does this sound reasonable? Let me know what everyone is paying nowdays. Thanks, Greg

That seems very low to me! I was looking a couple weeks back and couldn't find anything less than around $495! Love the link to that low price you found as I still need a backup!

Cina, I don't have a link for ya, sorry. I generally keep an eye on ebay, olympus sells their refurbs from there. Try this link and if should take you to at least one of the cameras that they sell on ebay. Now, be sure not to bid on the one I want, hehehe. Good luck. Greg

Heres another link I found just searching the internet. Seems these things are a little more popular than they were 6 months ago. Looks like I'll be paying closer to 400 for one now. Greg

YOu might want to check out this link...

And I'd be surprised if that camera on ebay goes for less than $450...at least two weeks ago they were going pretty high...AND don't forget that Olympus charges another 8% or something tax on your winning bid so factor that in :)

Oh, thats nice, lol. I'll keep watching on ebay until I find one thats fairly reasonable. Like I said, it wasn't unusual to pick one up on ebay 5-6 months ago for $325 or so. It seems they've gotten more "desirable" since last time I looked. There were a couple of more links for like 399 or so. I'll find out who those are and post again. Wish me better luck this time. Greg

Just bought a 5050 for £250 this week. It is like new and has a case and a couple of extra filters with it. Now all I have to do is find the £399 for the Ikelite housing.

I've had a quick look at the camera and I've managed to turn it on and that's about all. I'm off to the Philippines in February so I hope that I have got to grips with it by then. I've got a feeling I will be putting a few more posts on here before I go asking for advice.

I was following Olympus 5050's on eBay today (hoping to snag one), and they are going for between $420 and $450. Those are used, "mint condition", from private owners. Interesting how an obsolete (?) camera can get such interest. B&H is selling the 5060 for $490.

I was holding out for $400, but it didn't happen. Maybe after Christmas.

yea - they seem to have been an anomaly. I bought my c5050z (new) for $409 from buydig.com early in the summer - after it had been discontinued. Out of curiosity I checked their website every few weeks and it kept creeping up until it peaked out at $539 around September and then was gone entirely. One of the few times my timing has been good. Got lucky for a change.
