I searched the forums and couldn't find a list of diving movies.

Can anybody add to this list for me? I'm waiting until next week for my new gear to show up, so I need my fix or I'll start getting agitated, sweating, and eventually... convulsing.

Thunderball: and various James Bond movies - scooters, spearguns, and cutting lp hoses

The Deep (1977): I can't stand watching any movie where anybody gets raped (American History X is the only exception to this as it is such a powerful movie, and the scene is integral to the plot, not simply gratuitus violence)

The Life Aquatic: Entertaining, but was it really a comedy?

Into the Blue: Good diving or just 2 Deep 2 Furious? Please tell me that if it's a remake of The Deep that there is no rape scene...

Thanks for any others!

into the blue was a gratuitus jessica alba in swimwear vehicle. which is fine by me :)

open water, i guess is another one.

There was no rape scene in The Deep. There was a scene with voodoo, but not rape.

its not really a scuba movie, but The Big Blue has a lot of water and free diving in it. And I actually liked it, of course I like weird movies. Also The Cave has a lot of umm well cave diving in it, horrible movie, great sound and visuals, if you want to show off a home theatre. For REALLY deep dives there is always the Abyss of course.

You need to watch Life Aquatic again if you missed the comedy in it. Hilarious movie!

The Abyss (1989): When a nuclear submarine sinks, a team of divers descends the depths to conduct a rescue mission and to determine the cause.

The Life Aquatic is so lousy someone needs a bullet & a beatdown for fostering it on us.

Open Water is so atrocious you will likely be angry that you can't get the 90 minutes of your life back after watching it.

The Deep - Jaqueline Bisset. Decent movie.

Into The Blue - essentially a remake of The Deep with some changes. Jessica Alba in a bikini. Not a great movie but OK & the UW video is quite good.

The Abyss - Scifi action, not so much diving but excellent special effects.

Thunderball - just plain old James Bond fun.

The Cave is a crummy movie, but the UW cave video is worth seeing. You need a massive dose of suspended disbelief to watch this one. If you get the DVD, see the special features, there is some interview & video there that are more worth watching that the movie.

Any of the old Cousteau specials should be worth watching. There is even a set of DVD's now that have a collection of them.

I recall some movies from the 70's that had some diving in them but am drawing a blank on the names. They tended to be unremarkable but mildly entertaining.

The Frogmen airs sometimes on AMC. It's about US Navy UDT divers in WWII.
