My dad and I are looking for a cheap (preferrably <$1000 for airfare, hotel, and diving) place to go diving during my spring break vacation. We wanna stay away from the crazy spring break spots, like cancun. Does anyone have any suggestions for people on a tight budget?? Thanks! Hailey

If you're looking to get away from the crazy spring break spots, look into Roatan or Utila ...

Well, my suggestion isn't as exotic as some of the others.. but why not Key Largo? I'm sure it wouldn't be as crowded as Miami or Key West and it is known for it's diving. You could fly to Miami, rent a car and drive to Key Largo (about 1.5 hours).

I'm doing it next weekend and I can't wait. If you look around, there are some relatively inexpensive diving and room packages.

But then again, I've never been there during spring break... if you consider this option, you may want to visit the Florida Conch Divers board (on this site).

Good luck.

U r in AZ... Check out www.gonowvacation.com - they have decent deals usually (but obviously "construct" your own) to Coz and other places

The Florida springs might be a good deal for you unless diving salt water is what you're really after. I offered a trip to my students with 3 days of diving (Alexander Springs, Devils Den, Ginnie Springs). High Springs has hotel rooms at mom-n-pop hotels for $40-65 per night and the average cost of diving will probably be $30 per day. They are driving down so factor in fuel and meals and the total trip cost should come in under $1000 especially if they share a room.
