Keep in mind too, that if you do buy from your local dive shop, and they are good and caring shop, they will try to keep you from buying it too large. If the BC is too large it will be bulky and not work correctly. IE: not float you right at the surface, not stay conformed to you correctly at depth.

Or they'll just want to make sure you come back in 3 years needing a larger BC when you grow a bit.

Finding the right shop, yet another (sometimes expensive) part of the learning curve. I went though two lemons before I found the right one.
 
Yeah, but what a pleasure when you do find the right one. Don't give up, they are out there, and its worth the look. A real good hint when you have found the right one...you mean more than the sale.

My father has already purchased everything, but the BC, so If i end up getting this one, I'm gonna get it in a larger size so I can grow into it.:)

If you go larger and don't have a good fit, buoyancy control will be a real pain. I'd suggest you look into the Dive Rite line. If I recall correctly, they have a program for younger divers. http://www.dive-rite.com/kids/dvegear.htm Buy a Transpac II Ltd in the size that fits you now. Up to age 16, Dive Rite will replace those components you outgrow with larger sizes at no charge. It also allows you get get say med shoulder straps and small waist if you're tall and thin.
I'm considering one for our youngest if he certifies next year.
 
About a week ago, I saw a Great looking Mares Vector Origin. It looked like a little older version. Never been used, about half the price of the newer one I am looking at. It was on ebay.;-0

To be honest it was just a trial run. I liked it real well, the only problem is, I don't know if it is my favorite. I still want to try the new style DUI and see how it goes. My biggest issue is the actual NEED for pockets when I start my Divemaster later this year. My instructor has told me that Divemasters almost always have to carry an extra flashlight, defog and so on for students and its kind of more difficult to do with no pockets. Makes good sense to me, I just want to make sure I make the most educated descision that I can so that I'm not back doing this again in 2 years.
 
Hey KD- That's the way to go, take your time and shop around. Did you not notice that the Chute III does actually have pockets. They're on the small side, but mine easily fits my SL6 back up light and some other stuff.

Whichever BC you decide on, don't let pockets make you not get one that is otherwise perfect. You can always clip a small mesh "goodie bag" to one of the D-rings at your waist.

Scuber Dude- IF that Dive Rite TPII is in your price range, go for it. They make a nice system.
