I went to a local dive shop today to see what they had. He put a package together for me with a price and I wanted to run it by you guys here.

Aeris Pro1 reg.
Aeris XT BC
XR2comp. w/ compass
Air link

All for $1200.

Good equipment or no? Good price or no?

Thanks
James

Not sure, I dont see a gauge. I know air integration is 'in' nowadays, but be aware that if this link is gone (RF interference, battery dead), you have no way to tell how much gas you have. not an issue if you are at the beginning of a dive, you would call the dive and have plenty. But if you are near the end of a dive and need to go up....how much gas do you have to make it to the surface safely?

I'd recommend going to the gear forum here on SB and typing in each piece seperately to see what others have said about them. It will give you a good view of the likes/dislikes (there will be both no matter what kind of gear lol) and then see if it fits what you expect out of your gear. http://www.scubaboard.com/forumdisplay.php?f=39

btw - the computer is not air integrated, it's a standard computer. The Air Link is like an "Air2"

Aeris pro reg http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=120870&highlight=aeris

Aeris Atmos XT: http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=10464&highlight=Aeris+XT

For an LDS "deal" it sounds like a good deal as far as price is concerned. Personally I'd prefer building my own rig instead of a package deal and on mine I ended up spending a little less for the exact gear I wanted...

Same package from Scubatoys costs $1273 (without the SB discount lol)
Aloha, Tim

Scubatoys is the price leader - if your local shop will match them, cool. If not, find a new shop. Don't know the gear - not my brands, and your descriptions are somewhat lacking. Reg with which second stage, which auxillary second stage, for example?

Be sure the computer is Nitrox capable. Like I said, not my brands, I don't know.

Thanks all. I'am also looking at the Zeagle package at scubatoys.

Hey kidspot thanks for the links, want to do it again for the Zeagle package? :) lol.
I would putt my own package together but I have no clue what to look for and get. I will be mostly spearfishing and or course reef/wreck diving.

Thanks
James

When you're starting out, it's really good to work with your local shop - if they don't try to abuse you. I think yours is cool. :thumb:

Thats what I was kind of figuring. My other hobby is salt water aquariums and the Local fish store is the exact oposite of the LDS. So I Always check on-line now before buying anything local I don't know about that cost alot of money :).

uhh - I'll let you do the search this time ;)

I didn't realize you are just starting out, so as Don says, going through your LDS is a good idea, especially since they are giving you a price that is reasonable (most LDS I've been in a similar package would be $1800-$2500)

If given a choice between Aeris and Zeagle, I'd probably go with Zeagle myself...

Also remember that you can dive for awhile before buying gear, this lets you research and figure out what is important to you.

Aloha, Tim

Lucky guess here - it does help when members complete their Dive Info and Profiles. ;)
