Dandy Don! Had lunch with you two years ago at a little open air place back where the real Cozumelos live. Can't remember the name of the place (please let me know, great lunch!). You're there until June 3 and I'm not going until June 13. All the years I've been on SB I had always wanted to meet you and I did for that lunch.Would love to dive with you next year. Not that we have to stay at the same place, but after "breaking bread" with you I would like to dive with you. In fact, I would love to dive with some of my Coz divers. Been on this thread since 2007. Dived lot's of Ops. Diving with Christi after all these years to fulfill some unfinished business in my life, like diving with Dandy Don. Bucket list? Probably.

Well, howdy there. Good to hear from you, and I remember. You were making your first trip after a sad loss: How Diving Coz is bringing me back to life

It was great to meet you and hear how your special trip was going. It was at Los Otates on 15th Ave just off 3rd street.

This year? I haven't made a Coz plan this year. I've been leaving all other summer plans open until my kids & I could decide on our Solar Eclipse trip in August. Only United has flights that work for us, and our flight needs were inflexible, so I've been watching fares daily since last August, unwilling to pay $800 each. We finally decided to fly into Grand Rapids to see Mount Rushmore, drive to visit Little Bighorn, then drive to Yellowstone for 4 days before the event. We had hoped watch the sun vanish from Grand Teton, then catch the 5-something flight from Idaho Falls, but instead we'll watch it from the closest center line point to Bozeman - near a small town outside of the parks, then head for that airport and a 5-something departure. I've been planning this trip for 2 years, such intense plans so critically dependent on weather and good viewing, but we'll just give it a shot.

Now that we just booked that this weekend, I am just starting to think about other trips. My granddaughter and our two students from China leave Memorial Day weekend for China, and I certainly hope the GD has learned from last years fiasco when she lost her passport & visa in a train station. It took a lot to get her and her mom back home a week late! Her mom & dad will be following for a visit in early June with those three returning together June 13 I think, so I'll be staying very close to home in case they run into new problems and need help. I am such a mother hen with them at times. Anyway, I am thinking about a Coz trip in September, but just started thinking.

Ha! It great meeting you, and it'd be great doing so again if our plans ever do cross. I can't see any benefit from diving together as I am such a loner on dives with my pony, PLB, and sausage - and the DM probably wondering where I went at times. Well, if we got lost together, at least I could call 911 for us, but I really suck as a dive bud. I do hope we do get to meet there sometime again tho before I get too old for all of this..

all these years, Don and I have never crossed paths ...

Dandy Don and I crossed paths years ago on a Single Divers TX Flower Gardens trip on the SPREE, it's can be a small world sometimes. :)

Well, and as other divers have mentioned never crossing your path, I feel fortunate to have lunched with you. And thanks for remembering. That dive was the first after the passing of my wife (and dive buddy). And it is because of her that I will be diving with Christi's Op for the first time in memory of her (she loved reading Christi). I will be lunching at Los Otates in June and will raise a soft drink to you. I thought I knew just about every place in the local district but you turned me on to another good one. Why people pay a fortune to eat at those cruise ship places and never get the real local food is beyond me.

I just received an email from United about how embarrassed they are and admitting they screwed up. I so miss Continental, but that was a good step. They added they "will no longer ask law enforcement to remove customers from a flight and customers will not be required to give up their seat once on board – except in matters of safety or security" and "will increase incentives for voluntary rebooking up to $10,000 and will be eliminating the red tape on permanently lost bags with a new "no-questions-asked" $1,500 reimbursement policy."

Good to see the improvements.

My memory is so bad with people and names, it's rare that I can say I remember anyone. Well, I do make it easier on others using my real name and usually a face photo here. I'm sure it was good to meet you.

It was certainly a pleasure meeting you and eating at the neighborhood place there. I was a little nervous as I knew you were dealing with the loss of your wife and your first return to y'all's favorite destination, as I wondered what clumsy me might do to help - but it's just friends being there for each other that counts sometimes, even new friends.

Hope you have a great trip to Coz, as well as enjoying the August 21 eclipse even if you only get a partial on at home. You'll need special viewers so get some of yourself and friends: Solar Eclipse Glasses 100% KID SAFE Sun GAZING Filter (10 PACK) USA 2017 CE

Absolutely looking forward to the eclipse! I'm 61 and haven't missed one since I was eight years old. Back then we made "special glasses" for looking at it. And...you were the perfect lunch companion. You sell yourself short. You were not clumsy, but just the opposite. Having lunch with you was good therapy for me. That's why I sought you out on SB and asked for a lunch with you. My wife read SB with me for 11 years! Her grandmother was a big Dallas Cowboys fan, so when she saw your moniker of "Dandy Don" she knew immediately the similarity to Dandy Don Meredith (BTW, my wife was a huge football fan, even from childhood, she grew up on the LSU campus). I'll reveal this. Meeting you was not just my bucket list. She told me this. "I would love to meet Dandy Don and dive with Christi's BlueXT." Well, I did that for her having lunch with you, but of course we were both fans of your posts. And in June I will be diving with Christi. So thank you Don, and once I dive with Christi I will have resolved some unfinished business. I will always remember that lunch and the gentleman I had it with.
