Gonna do the Hyde/Markham Sept. 2 - BONINE Question too

Howdy!
Decided to dive the Hyde again and actually get to see the Markham this time :lol: Aquatic Safaris hooked me up on a 1:30 Sept. 2nd dive out of Wilmington.
Pat... if you're reading... are you gonna be our dive leader?
Heather may not be able to make it, so if she can't... I need a buddy.

Okay... to avoid a repeat of last time I intend to take some Bonine. For those of you experienced in managing sea-sickness... when should I start taking it and what dosage/how often?

Angela, I seldom get sea sick, but do from time to time. As a precaution I take 1 tablet the evening before the trip, one the morning of the trip when I get up and then one just before the boat leaves. I found if I suck on them and let them melt away it seems to work a bit better getting it into my system.

If I remember correctly, the "official" dose is 2 in a 24 hr period. I have found than one at bedtime the night before and another in the morning at breakfast works well for me. I continue the same dose routine, one at night and one in the morning until the diving is over.

As for a buddy, try the NC board, your more likely to find an experienced buddy to go with you.

On a slightly off subject note, I have found some drug stores near the coast carry the same chemical in 100 ct bottles. I take a Bonine package to the pharmacist and ask if they have the same med in a bigger count package. I get the same (exact- it has the same raspberry flavor) in 100 ct bottles for around $5, the same cost as 8 Bonine.

Thanks for your replies. My dive buddy doesn't want to dive at all and we're taking a group trip. Apparently, they want to golf instead. Bummer. Gotta cancel this trip

Will you have your own car or can someone drop you off at the boat? There is nothing wrong with not doing everything the group wants to do.

We just dove the Hyde & Markham & you are missing 2 great dive sites. We went with Cape Fear Divers & I was glad we got them in as we got blown out the rest of our trip.
Lots of Sea life & some very large Sand Tigers on both.
