Welcome to the board Chris. I'm new to the sport as well, and totally addicted. I seem to be better at diving than I am at golf though, but it's just a matter of practice.
One benefit of your access to the country club and scuba diving ability is that you can now retrieve lost golf balls from the various water hazards, sell them to your students, and possibly make enough extra income to purchase gear!

Now when you play golf you can keep you scuba equipment on the cart in order to retrieve balls in the hazards.
Maybe we can dive sometime since you are so close.
