Hello evryone me and a buddy are planning a trip to Sharm June 20ish. And can really use some advice! Both of us never dived before and we want get certifies! Hahaha. Anyway. We are trying to find the best package deal and could use any help or suggestions. There are so many choices. we are planning to stay for like a week and want to do a padi open water course I guess that is for beginner divers right? We would like 5 days of diving. We don't know what we are doing. But that's the fun of it! When you are booking your package deals what's the best way to go? Online through dive center website or travel agent. We are in Israel and going to bus it down to Sharm from the border.
Any advice would be great!!!!

Thanks

Am I in the right area to ask for help? This is Red Sea in the middle east right? I am going to Sharm El Sheik.

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton and emperor divers was right next door. Great people, very professional and great customer service. You can cross the street from there and you are in the big restaurant area and ocean front. Had a great time!

I'm in Sharm from the 18th -25th June.

You could send a message to a member called Crowley. he may well be in a position to give you some more "local" advice.

Camel Club could be worth a look at

Thanks Simon -

Am always happy to give help and advice for Sharm visitors. For first-time visitors I usually recommend one of the bigger dive centres, although there are smaller operators who will also porived excellent service, you just have to choose more carefully. You can buy hotel + diving package deals but I would try to contact the dive centre in advance to discuss requirements and pricing etc. Remember that the "best deal" is almost certainly not the cheapest, and make sure you know what you are getting for your money.

For booking and travel agent deals I will leave that to others, since I work on the other side, and if you want information about the centre I work for then please feel free to drop me a PM.

Cheers

Crowley

Depending on whether I can keep she who must be obeyed happy, I wouldn't mind a day trip over to Dahab to do the Arch

Alternatively you could stop off in Dahab on your way to Sharm. Dahab is not as developed as Sharm and defiantly a lot cheaper.

If you want more information about the dive centre I work at feel free to PM me.

Paul.

Ya, dahab is almost a must do, well worth the excursion.

I've been to shark four times now and have always dived with Camel dive. I find them super professional with good rental equipment. As my wife and I don't have any kids and frankly go to Egypt only to dive we normally stay at the hotel as well. Standard is good, but not fantastic (I.e don't expect the Hilton). the really good thing is that the dive center is downstairs and all you need to do in the morning is pass breakfast and walk 10 meters and you are right at the gathering spot for the days diving.

I would reccomend doing the theory online via the Padi elearning. I know some people don't think it is a good idea, but for us it was great as we could take the time we needed to fully understand everything without any time pressure from classmates or instructors. To be honest diving is not rocket science at the OW level, and it's nice not have to study when you are on vacation. Any questions you may still have after the theory can easily be asked to the instructor when you are doing the water portion of the course.

If you have any questions just drop me a pm.
