Hello every one, :)

I am going at the end of October to SCOTLAND/ Edinburgh. I have never gone to that place before. Can anyone here tell me if there is a diving spots there, so I can spend the weekend scuba diving :D Also do you have any diving tips or know any diving shops so I can rent all my gears from. :crafty:

Hi there.

There is some diving in the Firth of Forth and down the coast, but I haven't done it myself. A recommendation would be to head down the east coast to St Abbs which is not too far, and has some lovely, scenic cold-water diving. There are some boats that you could book with in advance, or if you try posting on www.yorkshire-divers.com you may find someone local to buddy you.

The one warning would be that whatever the time of year, but certainly in October, there is a risk that the weather doesn't play ball and whatever you book up gets cancelled.

For kit hire, try either of these - don't know if they hire & how much, but best to chat. They may be able to help you with more local diving too.

I'd also suggest these fora (forums?) for more local information;

Looking at your photos and location I think it would be worthwhile investing in some drysuit training if you're going to be in Scotland for a while and intend diving often.

Last weekend the water temperature in the Forth was around 13 degrees C and that is as warm as it gets. By October it will be heading towards the typical winter temperature of around 8 degrees C.

Don't forget that we regard 5 metre visibility as very good and visible daylight below 20metres as a bonus.

That said, if you're prepared to put the effort in the diving can be excellent.
